Notes:
- See: Dan Ranking and Titles Awardees Listing.
- The ages and years since last dan ranking stated above are minimum requirements only. Meeting them does not entitle an applicant to any dan ranking or title. Applicants must meet all requirements of the Ranking and Titles Committee.
- While certain minimum dan rankings are required for the titles of Renshi, Kyoshi and Hanshi, the titles are considered separately from rank. For example, a 5th dan who is 50 years of age is not automatically entitled to Renshi status. One of the main factors taken into consideration when awarding titles is the member's contribution to the art of Karate in Hawaii.
- Except for honorary awards, dan ranking and titles are only awarded to Hawaii Karate Kodanshakai members in good standing. Members may recommend their students for consideration by the Ranking and Titles Committee of appropriate dan ranking.
- One must be a Hawaii Karate Kodanshakai member in good standing for a minimum of two (2) years before receiving any dan ranking, and for a minimum of five (5) years before receiving any title.
- Fees apply to all dan rankings and titles. Consult Treasurer for details.
- The minimum requirements stated herein are subject to change by the Ranking and Titles Committee.
